Luncheon at Maggiano's Restaurant

Our August event was luncheon at Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant luncheon on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 11:30 a.m.  Seventeen members attended.

First Vice Queen Shirley Selman officiated in the absence of QM Carla, who was off gallivanting at the Jazzmatazz Regional Red Hat Convention in Chicago (click here for the complete report). 

Birthday handkerchiefs were given to JoAn Bowden, Helen Mayernick, Helen Conti, Mary Kate Akkola, and Sandra Behle. The door prize was won by Sandra Behle, who chose the napkin rings.

We took a survey as to various types of food and activities desired by members.

Tally:   Foods:  Indian-2, Mexican-11, Italian-14, Chinese-12, Greek-4,  American-13

  Specialties: High Tea-7, Movies-3, Live Theatre-3, Games-3 

It was discovered that the Adolphus Hotel doesn’t start with their high tea service until September 15 so we received several alternate suggestions for the September 8 event:

          Arboretum

          Antique Tea Room

          Antares Restaurant atop the Reunion Tower

          (Alternate to luncheon) Auction for Red Hatters (Need a place)

(The decision has since been made to have it at Antares Restaurant atop Reunion tower - click here for details.)

We will have High Tea at the Adolphus as our November event (November 17, 2007).

It was announced that Nellie Booker will have day surgery on her nose (sinus infection).
